Good morning, this is Home Assistant Daily for January 18th, 2026.

Yesterday saw significant activity with 20 merged pull requests across the Home Assistant core repository. Steve Easley merged a major update bumping the pyjvcprojector library to version 2.0.0, requiring changes across 22 files in the JVC projector integration. Zach Deibert added support for older Minecraft Server Java Edition versions 1.4 through 1.6, expanding compatibility for legacy server monitoring.

Several integrations received quality improvements. Mettolen upgraded the Saunum integration to platinum quality scale, implementing proper error handling and strict typing. The same contributor also added switch entities to the Airobot integration. Glenn de Haan improved the HDFury integration to silver quality scale with enhanced testing coverage.

Platform expansions included Niracler adding sensor platform support to the sunricher_dali integration, and Josef Zweck implementing reauthentication capabilities for the OpenAI conversation integration.

Multiple library updates were processed, including bumps to xiaomi-ble version 1.4.3, Gemini SDK updates, Tibber library 0.35.0, and opower 0.16.4. DeerMaximum made significant changes to the NINA integration, patching the library directly instead of HTTP requests and improving test configuration.

Device-specific fixes included bieniu creating cable unplugged entities only for Shelly Flood Gen4 devices, and tr4nt0r adding media player action tests for the Xbox integration while implementing assumed muted state handling.

What's next: Expect continued focus on integration quality improvements and library maintenance. The development team appears to be systematically upgrading integrations to higher quality tiers while maintaining backward compatibility.

That's your Home Assistant Daily update for January 18th, 2026.
