Good morning, I'm your host with the Home Assistant Daily for January 21st, 2026.
Yesterday's development activity centered on air quality monitoring improvements and automation enhancements. Thomas55555 led efforts to expand sensor capabilities, merging pull requests to add parts-per-billion units for both ozone and NO2 sensors. This was followed by updates to the Google Air Quality integration, including a library bump to version 3.0.0 and proper device class implementation for NO2 and SO2 sensors.
Erik Montnemery improved the automation system with two significant changes: adding new siren conditions for "is on" and "is off" states, and enhancing light brightness triggers to compare percentages rather than raw brightness values. These changes provide more intuitive automation controls for users.
Several integration maintainers updated their dependencies. Raphael Hehl bumped the UniFi Protect library to version 10.0.0, while Josef Zweck updated the OneDrive Personal SDK and added missing translation strings. Stefan bumped the Kostal Plenticore library to version 1.5.0.
Joost Lek continued the ongoing effort to properly classify integrations by type, adding device classifications to RadioTherm, RAPT BLE, and Renson integrations, and hub classifications to RFXtrx, Refoss, Rehlko, and Rituals Perfume Genie. The Rainforest Raven integration was corrected from device to hub type after initial classification.
What's next: The air quality sensor improvements suggest continued focus on environmental monitoring features. The automation enhancements indicate ongoing work to make Home Assistant's trigger system more user-friendly.
That's your Home Assistant Daily. I'm your host, and we'll be back tomorrow with more development updates.
