Good morning, I'm your host with the Home Assistant Daily for January 31st, 2026.

Magnus Ă˜verli merged a significant update to the Flexit BACnet integration that converts fireplace mode from a switch to a climate preset. This is a breaking change - existing fireplace mode switches are now deprecated and disabled by default, though users will receive repair notifications to help migrate their automations.

Armin Ghofrani enabled prompt caching for the Anthropic conversation integration, which can reduce follow-up message costs by up to 90 percent for long conversations. The caching applies to both system prompts and tool definitions across all Anthropic models.

Brett Adams fixed a state conflict in the Teslemetry integration by renaming the drive inverter "unavailable" state to "not_available," resolving duplicate entries in the state trigger UI.

Several dependency updates were also merged. The team bumped uiprotect to version 10.1.0, opower to 0.17.0, and eheimdigital to 1.6.0.

Erwin Douna added parallel updates support to the Portainer integration and fixed a pattern issue in the Proxmox config flow. Simone Chemelli improved hostname resolution handling for Shelly repair issues.

The media source upload limit was increased from 10 to 20 megabytes to better accommodate larger audio files, and several UI improvements were made to camera action descriptions.

What's next: Users with Flexit BACnet fireplace automations should watch for repair notifications and plan their migration to climate presets. The Anthropic prompt caching should provide immediate cost benefits for heavy conversation users.

That's your Home Assistant Daily. I'm back tomorrow with more updates from the development community.
