Good morning, I'm your host with the Home Assistant Daily for April 4th, 2026.

The major development yesterday was frenck's merge of Home Assistant 2026.4.1, a maintenance release addressing 29 issues across the platform. Key fixes include Tuya energy sensor units, Ring snapshot functionality, Tesla Fleet OAuth scope handling, and websocket update component improvements. The release touched 77 files with significant code changes.

Several notable feature additions were merged. g4bri3lDev added AES-128 encryption support to the OpenDisplay integration, enhancing security for display communications. lboue contributed Matter PIR sensor improvements, adding support for unoccupied to occupied delay configuration. Shulyaka enhanced AI task functionality by allowing users to override content types for attachments.

Infrastructure improvements include frenck's ongoing template engine refactoring, extracting serialization functions into a dedicated Jinja2 extension. This continues the effort to modularize Home Assistant's template system. The Fritz integration received automated device tracker cleanup, deprecating the manual cleanup button.

Multiple dependency updates were processed, including habluetooth 6.0.0, soco 0.30.15 for Sonos improvements, and various other library bumps for Russound, Portainer, and Zinvolt integrations.

Bug fixes addressed specific integration issues: PeteRager resolved Sonos alarm switch creation when speakers are offline during initialization, rajlaud fixed Victron BLE reauth flow titles, and epenet improved None handling in Renault diagnostics.

What's next: Template engine refactoring continues as part of the larger codebase modernization effort. The 2026.4.2 patch release is likely in development to address any issues discovered in 2026.4.1.

That's your Home Assistant development update for April 4th, 2026.
