Welcome to Home Assistant Daily. I'm your host covering the week of March 29th through April 5th, 2026.
50 pull requests merged with 98 additional commits this week. The major milestone was the 2026.4.1 release, addressing critical issues across the platform.
Starting with the headline release - version 2026.4.1 shipped with fixes for 29 reported issues. Key repairs include Ring camera snapshot extraction, Tesla Fleet OAuth scope handling during reauth, and Tuya energy sensor unit corrections. The Sonos integration received two important fixes: proper state reporting when media titles contain whitespace, and alarm switch entity creation for speakers that were offline during initialization.
New features this week include Matter PIR occupancy sensor support with configurable unoccupied-to-occupied delays. Gardena Bluetooth users gain manual and remaining watering time controls for Aquaprecise devices. Portainer integration added volume pruning and container kill buttons for better Docker management. The Traccar server integration now exposes battery and supply voltage sensors.
Infrastructure improvements focused on template system refactoring. Two major pull requests extracted type casting and serialization functions into dedicated Jinja2 extensions, continuing the effort to modularize the monolithic template system. This work improves maintainability without affecting user functionality.
Fritz integration received significant device tracker improvements with automated cleanup processes, while also migrating image entity unique IDs to more functional naming schemes. The Zinvolt integration expanded to handle all battery units in account configurations.
Breaking changes were minimal but notable. The Lunatone integration changed unique ID attributes, requiring entity re-creation for affected users. Transmission integration removed the port forward sensor as deprecated functionality.
Dependency updates included major version bumps: habluetooth to 6.0.0, psutil to 7.2.2, and holiday library to 0.93. These updates bring performance improvements and expanded functionality.
Several integrations improved user experience through better error handling and action naming consistency across Media Player, Recorder, and Shopping List components.
Next week expect continued focus on stability improvements and template system modernization as the development team maintains momentum on infrastructure enhancements.
That's your Home Assistant weekly recap. Stay updated with the latest developments.
