Good morning, this is Home Assistant Daily for March 3rd, 2026.
The development team merged 20 pull requests yesterday with significant system and integration improvements.
Artur Pragacz merged a critical reliability enhancement that triggers recovery mode when Home Assistant detects a registry major version downgrade. This 236-line change across 16 files improves how the system handles major version bumps during rollbacks, preventing potential data corruption issues.
Jeff Terrace completed a major refactoring of ONVIF event parsing, moving manufacturer-specific event processing code into a separate external module. This change removes over 1,600 lines from core while adding 249 new lines, making future updates more manageable.
AbĂlio Costa added infrared platform support to ESPHome, enabling new device capabilities with 248 lines of new code across entity handling and platform implementation.
Several integrations received important updates. Norman Yee added support for the Govee H5140 CO2 monitor to the govee_ble integration. Tom Matheussen removed deprecated YAML import functionality from Satel Integra, streamlining the integration. Raman Gupta decoupled the Vizio apps coordinator from specific config entries, fixing lifecycle management issues.
Multiple dependency updates were merged, including python-xbox bumped to version 0.2.0, pylutron-caseta to 0.27.0 with Pico Paddle device fixes, and DSMR parser to 1.5.0. The team also updated knx-frontend, uhooapi, python-openevse-http, and pysaunum libraries.
Security improvements included Raman Gupta's addition of DSK key redaction in Z-Wave JS diagnostics to prevent sensitive data exposure.
What's next: The team continues beta testing for version 2026.3 while maintaining stability improvements and integration enhancements.
That's your Home Assistant Daily update. Back tomorrow with more development news.
