Good morning, this is Home Assistant Daily for February 27th, 2026.
Andrew Grimberg merged comprehensive Schlage door code management services, adding three new services for setting, clearing, and retrieving door codes with full test coverage across 681 lines of changes. David Bonnes migrated evohome's zone services to entity-level services in preparation for upcoming config flow support.
PeteS-UK added config flow support to the legacy Orvibo integration, moving it away from YAML configuration with custom discovery and migration support for existing entries. Kamil BreguĊa added a diagnostics platform to AWS S3, improving troubleshooting capabilities.
Several developers focused on code quality improvements. Epenet simplified entity initialization in both Portainer and Proxmox integrations, reducing code duplication. Erwin Douna expanded data descriptions for Proxmox entities to improve user experience.
Bug fixes included James handling missing Daikin zone temperature keys that could cause setup failures, and yzlnew fixing UTF-8 file writing issues on systems without locale configuration. Denis Shulyaka improved AI conversation features by adding reauth flow for Anthropic authentication errors and updating OpenAI reasoning options for the new GPT-5.3-codex model.
The development team also removed redundant code patterns, with epenet dropping single-use service name constants in bsblan and arturpragacz removing the vacuum area mapping issue notification after determining repairs weren't the appropriate tool.
Bram Kragten updated the frontend to version 20260226.0, and Raphael Hehl bumped the uiprotect library to version 10.2.2.
What's next: The evohome config flow implementation should follow soon, and continued entity initialization standardization across integrations.
That's your Home Assistant development update. We'll be back tomorrow with the latest changes.
