Good morning. This is Home Assistant Daily for March 7th, 2026.

Yesterday marked a significant milestone with the release of Home Assistant 2026.3.1. Frenck merged the massive release pull request, addressing 26 linked issues across 64 files with over 2,400 lines of changes. The release includes critical fixes for Rain Bird controllers, Snapcast client group handling, and Hunter Douglas PowerView missing class hierarchies.

A notable breaking change comes from Joost Lekkerkerker's Spotify integration update, bumping spotifyaio to version 2.0.2. This required substantial refactoring across 17 files, removing over 500 lines of code while improving the underlying architecture.

PeteRager enhanced the Rehlko integration by adding binary sensors for generator load shedding monitoring. These sensors use user-configured display names and allow tracking of equipment loads during generator operation, providing better control over power management systems.

Several integrations received dependency updates. The ESPHome integration now uses aioesphomeapi 44.3.1, while other platforms like Switcher KIS, Vodafone Station, and BSB-LAN received their respective library updates.

The development team continued code organization efforts. Epenet moved coordinators from initialization files to dedicated modules for WattTime, Smart Meter Texas, and Wolflink integrations, improving code maintainability.

Additional fixes included energy unit corrections in Homevolt, button entity creation fixes for multi-radio devices in SMLIGHT, and OAuth exception handling improvements in SmartThings.

What's next: Template light testing frameworks received major updates, and the systemnexa2 integration gained reconfiguration flow capabilities.

That's your Home Assistant Daily update. Stay automated.
