Good morning. This is Home Assistant Daily for Monday, May 26th, 2026.

DCSBL merged two significant HomeWizard improvements today. First, serial numbers are now added to device registry entries, enhancing device identification. Second, a new battery group target power sensor was added for automation use cases.

Erik Montnemery removed support for advanced mode from schema config flows and deprecated the FlowHandler show_advanced_options property, streamlining the configuration experience. He also added an in_zones property to mobile_app device trackers, providing better location context.

J Bouwer fixed a blocking time zone validation issue in the config/core/update websocket command that was causing warnings during onboarding. Joakim Plate switched Gardena Bluetooth setup to use async_setup in the coordinator for better performance.

Several integrations received config flow optimizations. tr4nt0r updated Xbox, ntfy, Habitica, and PlayStation Network integrations to use non-reloading entry update methods where update listeners already exist. The EDL21 integration saw multiple improvements: migration to SerialPortSelector, removal of artificial throttling, and a dependency bump to pysml 0.1.7.

Kane610 added a local helper for Axis serial numbers, while Max Michels cleaned up duplicate constants in the bluetooth component. Åke Strandberg added missing Miele program phase codes, and A. Gideonse bumped the indevolt-api to version 1.8.2 with battery cycle count fixes.

Paul Tarjan removed an unreachable Hikvision Shelter Alarm binary sensor that was causing issues.

What's next: Expect continued config flow standardization efforts and more device registry improvements across integrations.

That's your Home Assistant Daily update. We'll be back tomorrow with more development news.
