Good morning, it's January 26th, 2026. I'm your host with today's Frigate NVR development update.

hawkeye217 merged a comprehensive fix bundle for the 0.17 beta release. This pull request addresses multiple areas of the codebase with 500 additions and 60 deletions across eight files. The changes include JSON schema implementation for the GenAI module, affecting all major AI providers - OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Gemini, and Ollama. This standardization should improve error handling and data validation across AI integrations.

The update also includes user interface improvements, specifically replacing JavaScript with CSS for the reviewed button hover state in the filmstrip component. This change should provide more consistent visual feedback and better performance.

On the documentation side, the team added Intel NPU statistics for 640x640 resolution processing, giving users better hardware performance expectations. Perhaps most notably, the GitHub Copilot instructions received a major overhaul with 385 new lines, adopting Home Assistant's format for more effective AI-assisted development.

The commit was co-authored by Nicolas Mowen, indicating collaborative review and implementation across the development team.

What's next: The 0.17 beta continues to receive polish with these foundational AI schema improvements likely supporting future GenAI feature expansion. Users can expect more stable AI integrations as the beta progresses toward general release.

That's today's update from the Frigate development front.
