Good morning, this is Home Assistant Daily for May 20th, 2026.
AlCalzone merged comprehensive Z-Wave credential management support, adding over 2,500 lines of code across 11 files. The update introduces new lock helpers, expanded services, and enhanced security features for Z-Wave JS integration users.
Several contributors focused on code quality improvements. Denis Shulyaka consolidated duplicate constants in the humidifier component, while Tomer updated the Victron GX integration to use standardized model constants. Andrew Jackson removed duplicate constants from the time_date integration.
Thomas Bouron improved temperature unit handling in Tuya numbers and sensors, ensuring devices properly respect the TEMP_UNIT_CONVERT setting for more accurate temperature reporting.
The team made significant UI improvements by removing advanced mode restrictions. Erik Montnemery led this effort, updating fan, climate, light, and multiple other service actions to be accessible to all users rather than requiring advanced mode. The changes also renamed "advanced options" to "additional options" for better clarity.
Security updates were prioritized with J. Nick Koston bumping zeroconf to version 0.149.7, which addresses six to seven CVEs related to unbound memory growth. Willem-Jan van Rootselaar updated python-bsblan to version 6.0.1.
Additional maintenance included removing obsolete service references from the Toon integration and cleaning up deprecated MQTT service flags.
What's next: The push toward UI accessibility continues as more integrations move away from advanced mode restrictions. Z-Wave users can expect expanded credential management capabilities in their lock devices.
That's your Home Assistant Daily update. We'll be back tomorrow.
