Good morning. This is your Frigate NVR weekly update for February 15th through 22nd, 2026.

Seven pull requests merged and 27 additional commits this week.

Starting with features and improvements: Pull request 21996 introduces ffmpeg preview segment optimization for high and very high quality settings, adding a maximum quantizer value of 25 to prevent over-compression of initial frames. The object processing system received an update in PR 22035, improving attribute handling with a more streamlined implementation.

Documentation saw significant attention this week. PR 22025 adds comprehensive macOS installation guidance for version 0.17, including Apple Silicon detector references and Docker port mapping warnings for macOS systems. Two smaller documentation fixes addressed Hailo setup numbering errors and corrected a broken NVIDIA TensorRT support matrix link.

Internationalization dominated the commit activity with PR 21964 delivering a major translation update from Hosted Weblate. The update spans 115 files with over 1,400 additions and covers multiple language improvements including Danish, Catalan, and various other locales. Additional standalone commits extended translation coverage to new languages, with Georgian being newly added to the platform. Existing translations received updates across Spanish, Italian, Hungarian, Dutch, Japanese, Swedish, and Polish languages.

The week's additional commits consisted entirely of translation work, with contributors completing language packs and improving localization coverage. Slovak translations reached near-complete status, while Cantonese Traditional achieved full coverage across all interface components. The Hungarian translation saw substantial progress with over 400 strings now completed.

Next week, development focus may shift back toward core functionality improvements as the translation infrastructure appears well-established. The team continues preparing for the 0.17 stable release.

That's your Frigate NVR update for this week. I'm back next week with more development news.
