Good morning, this is Frigate NVR Updates for March 5th, 2026.

The biggest development yesterday was hawkeye217's merge of the debug replay feature - a substantial 4,500 line addition across 68 files. This new system allows users to play back recorded footage with the ability to edit motion and object detection configurations in real-time, including debug draw overlays. The feature integrates into both the explore and review menus, giving developers and advanced users powerful debugging capabilities for their camera setups.

NickM-27 merged various fixes addressing Ollama chat functionality with tools and structural improvements to the AI integration. Meanwhile, hawkeye217 also pushed through two smaller UI improvements: fixing menu display conditions for users without Frigate+ subscriptions and adding fullscreen controls to tracking detail videos.

On the documentation front, ZhaiSoul updated the getting started guide's detector section, while hawkeye217 reorganized the setup planning documentation to move the CPU section above storage for better flow.

The additional commits mirror the merged pull requests, with the debug replay implementation being the most significant addition to the codebase.

What's next: The debug replay feature will likely see refinements based on user feedback, and continued improvements to the AI chat functionality appear to be ongoing priorities.

That's your Frigate update for today. Stay tuned for tomorrow's briefing.
