Good morning, it's Monday, October 5th, 2026, and this is Navidrome Daily.
There's no broader pattern today — just one high-impact reliability fix that stops a playlist artwork failure from taking down the entire server.
The issue, tracked as 6266 and fixed in pull request 6267, came down to shutdown timing. When the artwork background worker tried to resolve a playlist image, the track lookup could fail — most likely because its context was canceled during shutdown. That left an empty track list, and the next step tried to use it…
The fix adds defense at two levels. First, the playlist resolver now returns an error instead of proceeding when tracks can't be loaded. That prevents the invalid access at the source. Second, the worker now recovers from panics on a per-item basis and logs the item details, so a single bad artwork job can't kill…
For developers and operators, the impact is stability around shutdown and restarts. Previously, stopping the server at the wrong moment during artwork processing could cause an uncontrolled crash instead of a clean exit. Now that failure is isolated and logged, with no change to normal artwork behavior.
What's next: Watch for that new per-item…
