Today's activity is small but pointed: both commits are about who sits on top of whom in the interface, and both replace ad hoc fixes with a real system.
First, commit d8d8b79 fixes the command palette getting buried under a stack of toast notifications. Toasts were hard-coded to a five-digit z-index, and the palette wasn't, so notifications could sit on top of search results. Second, commit 996fde0 fixes a navigation bug in Settings: pressing Escape while viewing a plugin's detail pane closed the entire Settings modal instead of just backing out of the detail view. The common thread here is layering discipline. Maestro's UI has grown enough overlapping surfaces — modals, toasts, celebrations, drill-down panes — that implicit z-index guesses and single-layer modals were starting to produce visible bugs.
