Good morning, this is your Frigate NVR update for May 26th, 2026.

Yesterday brought four merged pull requests with notable improvements to the system. Hawkeye217 merged three separate PRs addressing different areas of the platform. The largest change was profiles fixes, adding 255 lines of code across seven files. This update introduces backend validation to reject profile-only masks and zones, disables ID fields when editing profile configurations, and includes comprehensive test coverage. The changes prevent configuration errors by blocking zone names that already exist in required zones.

The second major addition comes from NickM-27, who merged a new feature allowing users to control chapters set on MP4 exports. This 128-line enhancement spans the API definitions, export endpoints, and core recording export functionality, giving users more granular control over their exported video files.

Hawkeye217 also contributed UI improvements by removing camera name badges from the settings page, streamlining the interface with 38 additions and 35 deletions to the settings component. Additionally, motion review documentation was expanded with 44 new lines covering motion detection configuration and review processes.

The profiles fixes include important backend validation that prevents users from creating invalid configurations, while the web interface now properly handles profile editing scenarios. The MP4 export enhancement addresses user requests for better control over video chapter markers during the export process.

Looking ahead, these changes lay groundwork for more robust profile management and give users enhanced control over their exported recordings. The expanded documentation should help users better understand motion detection workflows.

That's your Frigate NVR update. I'm your host, and we'll be back tomorrow with more development news.
